Date and time:
2007-10-24 17:15 - 17:45
Deb Kimme from the YMCA will be on The Midwatch this Wednesday around 6:15pm to talk about the YMCA's new outreach program Fun Pass for disadvantaged youth.
Fun Pass is a program that provides structured group activities for Champaign Middle School students, ages 11-14, immediately following their school day. Fun Pass takes place Monday through Thursday from 2:30-6:00 pm. Each of these days, the Fun Pass staff greets the students at their schools, transports them safely to our facilities, all while engaging the teens in fun, safe, and worthwhile activities. Fun Pass is led by nurturing adults who are positive role models. These adults engage the young teens in activities that promote healthy lifestyles, academic achievement, positive social competencies, and service to the community. Fun Pass provides young teens and their working parents a viable option to going home to an empty house or engaging in detrimental activities. This program year, the YMCA has partnered with Youth for Christ (YFC) in the operation of Fun Pass. — Champaign County YMCA
