Each week the hosts, William Gillespie & Cristy Scoggins, choose a topic to use as an analytic tool with which to dissect a cross-section of the past half century of songwriting generally categorized within the “rock and roll” idiom.

Songs about space, songs about numbers, 1987 vs. 1996, songs with string arrangements, songs less than two minutes in length, the worst guitar solos of all time. The weekly show comprises excellent specimens of music, rock geek news, poetry (rock geek theatre), and intelligent, fractious, lively (albeit groggy) debate. Set your clock radio for Monday night and listen in wonder as Cristy and William compare and contrast Belle and Sebastian with Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band.
