What is a WEFT Associate?

Who are the WEFT Associates?

We are the group of people most actively involved in the station. To be an Associate you must do four things:

  • Be a WEFT Member (pay the annual membership dues);
  • Attend two Associates Meetings in twelve months;
  • Fill a volunteer position at the station;
  • Sign an Associate Contract that outlines the requirements and privileges of Associate status.

You do not have to have a show (that is, be an "airshifter") to become an Associate.

Why become a WEFT Associate?

  • The Programming Committee requires you to be an Associate, or on your way to Associate status, if you want to have your own show.
  • Associates have a great deal of input into the way WEFT is run in part because they elect members to the Board of Directors and the Programming Committee: two powerful groups within the station bureaucracy. Associates also pass resolutions about WEFT programming, policy, and philosophy.
  • Finally, if you do get involved with WEFT, you are quite likely to end up doing all the things you need to do to become an Associate anyway. Learn more by downloading the Associates Contract

Associates Meetings

The Associates meet quarterly at 7PM according to the following schedule:

QuarterMeeting Date

Special meetings of the Associates may be called by the Chair of the Corporation, the Board of the Directors, by a majority vote at a regular or special Board meeting, or by any three Associates as defined in the Bylaws through a written petition to the Chair of the Associates Executive Committee.

All meetings are open to the public.

Who can I contact with questions about the Associates?
