Building & Engineering Committees
The Building Committee organizes and implements repair and upgrades to the WEFT building and interior. The Engineering Committee assists the Chief Engineer with equipment maintenance, repair, design, and installation.
Both committees are currently engaged in remodeling WEFT's Front Studio and making other changes related to this project. The committees also have long-term building improvement plans. If you can spare some time helping with any of these projects and or wish to be added to the building or the engineering committee, let the chair of the committees know by emailing their mailing lists: wefteng@weft.org or weftbld@weft.org.
The following changes are planned (no deadlines have been set):
- New ADA Compliance studio door in the old mail box location.
- New mail box location in corridor where the Hip Hop Vinyl resides. There will be room to also move the mail rack in the Great Hall into this area.
- Removing the barn siding from the walls in the front studio interior. This will make a little more room and allow us to paint and brighten up the room.
- The addition for two switches in the studio to temporarily turn off the furnace and studio exhaust fans during Great Hall recording sessions. (There ain’t no such thing as a quiet fan).
- Ceiling mounting the two guest mikes in the studio. We will have a removable table to make the interview area more flexible.
- Two new 4’ tracks with dimmer switch and four heads on each for better task lighting. One fluorescent light for repair and clean up.
- A new studio computer and monitor.
- Closing off the existing door and unused windows, making room for bulletin board etc.
- New floor covering.
- Install our new console and furniture.
- Move the vinyl out of the basement after March 20th to Lincoln Square. Haul any unusable stuff out of the entire building.
- Install lights and receptacles on the second floor.
- Last of all when the brand new front studio is working, finish up the rear studio.
